From the Library
Jolabokaflod which translates into English roughly as “The Christmas Book Flood.” This tradition began during World War II once Iceland had gained its independence from Denmark in 1944. Paper was one of the few things not rationed during the war, so Icelanders give books as Christmas gifts. This tradition reinforces Iceland’s culture as a nation of bookaholics.
To help our communities to celebrate love and enjoyment of books, CBCS LIBRARY are welcoming all students and parents to borrow books before the holiday, and KEEP the books until the end of Christmas Holiday.

Jolabokaflod secara kasar dapat diterjemahkan sebagai “NATAL BANJIR BUKU.” Tradisi ini dimulai sejak Perang Dunia II setelah Iceland mendapatkan kemerdekaannya dari Denmark pada tahun 1944. Kertas adalah salah satu barang yang tidak dijatah pada saat perang, maka penduduk Iceland memberi buku sebagai hadiah Natal. Tradisi ini memperkuat budaya Iceland sebagai bangsa pecinta buku.
Untuk membantu komunitas kita untuk merayakan mencintai dan menikmati buku, CBCS LIBRARY menyambut semua murid dan orang tua untuk meminjam buku sebelum liburan dan MENYIMPANNYA sampai akhir liburan Natal.
